Adaptive Equipment and Techniques
NEHSA's equipment is high-tech. We provide skis, boots, bindings, poles, helmets, and a full range of adaptive devices such as outriggers, ski bras, mono-skis, and bi-skis. The volunteers in our ski shop are certified ski technicians trained and equipped with the tools needed to adapt and adjust our equipment according to the needs of each student.

All students and volunteers using any NEHSA equipment must wear a helmet whether it be for instructional or recreational skiing or snowboarding.

Our instructors, many of whom are disabled, are certified by PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America). Their rigorous training to work with disabled skiers is also used to help train our volunteers who often continue on to become certified.

NEHSA integrates the American Teaching System model of instruction to the needs of the individual and focuses on skill development and having fun.
